Sur Nite (LNG 10th Celebrations)

Last two weeks ago, one of my friend dtg visit Sur. Biasa laa kat Sur ni, bawak pegi tgk turtle kat Ras al-Hut, pegi tgk Sur tower, jln2 tgk beach, tgk kapal2. Tu jer la kan.

So nak pegi bawak dia tgk turtle, fully-booked la plak coz of holiday kan. Seriously ramai tourists yg suker dtg sini nak tgk turtle. So tak jadi laa nak tgk turtle. Alkisahnya, mlm tu ada plak celebration from LNG. LNG ni consider one of the largest oil company in Oman and based in Sur. Tiap2 tahun ada celebration. This year 10th celebration of LNG.

In the morning, got boat race and at nite ada fireworks. Then masa ni laa nak tgk betapa ramainya rakyat jelata kat Sur ni kluar dr rumah mereka. Tak kuranglah my friend dgn I. So kitaorg bwk guest kitaorg skali pegi tgk fireworks. Kat Msia, x de nyer nak menengok. Ye ker? Ada.. ada.. tu pun just mlm new year, duk jer kat tepi window my room, nampak fireworks from KLCC.

Bercerita pasal LNG celebration ni, teringat kat kawan2 LNG kat sini. Orang Brunei, orang Msia. Family Brunei dah balik :(( tinggal laa Chinese, Msian one family jer. Diaorg ni suka buat makan2. Kalau buat makan2, slalu laa jemput my friend dgn I. Dah laa pandai masak, sedap sgt2 plak tu. Laaa... wendu nyaa kat Kak Tini ni!!

Dr banner ni laa dpt tahu yg LNG ada celebration, first year here punya laa bersemangat pegi. Then skrg ni x de laa sgt, pegi pun sb bwk guest kan?

See.. so many people. Ni x de laa nampak ramai kan?.. Ambik gamba ni pun curik2 okey. Kan nampak pelik pompuan plak yg ambik gamba lelaki.. Kat sini laa pelik!!

Look at that, the big dow!! Punya laa colorful. Pegi laa jgk jenguk, lerr ada concert rupanya kat dalam ni. But not all the people were allowed to enter the gate. Kesian yg mana x bleh masuk tu kan?


Told you many ppl. Risau jgk tau masa ni. Tak pasal2 jumpa students2. Nanti ader plak yg dipanggil2 " Ms Nur... Ms Nur". Biasa laa bebudak unta ni suker panggil2 kat public, sajer jer nak buat kita glamour!!

Jeng.. jeng .. jeng.. Ni laa the big dow tu. Last nite berwarna-warni kan? Ni kitaorg pegi pagi nyer plak. Malam tadi kan x dpt masuk sb org duk buat concert. Pepagi ni bleh laa masuk nak buat aksi2 "Omanwood" kat sini.

Jalan-jalan di Sur berakhir pada siang nyer selepas mlm tadi berpenat2 ambik gamba tunggu fireworks. Then pegi plak kat tower ni, dongak2 ambik gamba yg color2. Sakit leher okey... tapi i suka laa buat aksi2 yg pelik2 ni. Dah x de benda lain dah nak buat kat sini kan!!

Oman National Day

HAPPY 39th NATIONAL DAY OMAN!!

Being a Malaysian who are living in Oman, Im so proud of living here. I gain and experienced so many things. Good, bad, weird and sort of things. When Im here I feel Im like Omani. Hahhaha.. ade yg kena buang Msia ckp cam ni. Tak de laa, I mean I do learn a lot of their cultures, their people, attitude and behaviour. Always told my students in the class that Im Omani coz of some of the things I know better than them. Bleh??

Yang peliknya, even tdy is their national day but we were at the college this morning. No holiday people!! Apakah ini??

Well, not yet holiday.The best part is even the national day is today but the holiday will be anytime next week or another week after. Adakah itu pelik??

Amat laa pelik skali. Tapi saya amat suker skali!! Kenapa? Sbbnya dia akan gabungkan cuti raya dgn cuti national day!! Suker.. suker. Tq..tq Sultan Qaboos.

Ari ni my students ramai laa yg lelakinya pakai "masar" ( macam serban tu laa kat kepala yg dibelit2 diputar2) warna ijau and merah. Tu kan warna flag diaorg. Yang pompuan plak, still wajib pakai black abaya tapi tudung berwarna merah, blink2 manik merah. Amat laa bersemangat skali kan?

Apa2 pun till now still kitaorg x tahu cuti nyer bila. Boleh cam tu? Kat Oman ni semuanya boleh, Yang mustahil pun jd "stahil"? kitaorg kat sini akan tahu cuti2 am slalunya 2.. 3 days before. Adalah sukar utk buat planning yg awal. Tunggu laa bila Sultan Qaboss declare holiday. Suker ati korang laa janji cuti nyer lama.

Pelajar2 saya amat laa berdedikasi skali, sbb dah inform sy yg minggu depan start monday diaorg x akan dtg class. Amat laa bagus skali sbb diaorg akan bz buat preparation utk raya. Apakah ni semua alasan kanak2 unta!!

Sy x kira, kalau pelajar2 sy bleh tinggalkan sy kat class sorang2, sy pun akan cabut jgk pada hari berkenaan. Sy pun nak bersuka ria dgn family sy yg x lama lagi akan tiba disini. Ssssshhh.... korang ckp x nak dtg class right kanak2 unta? Deep inside, Alhamdulillah... itulah kata2 Ms Nur. Bleh laa ku bersuka ria bersama keluargaku nanti. Hehehhe....

Clock is clicking... counting days, minutes for them to arrive here. Cant wait!!

DRaMa CoMPeTiTioN

Drama competition was held last week at the my college. It was Arabic Drama, tapi disebabkan dapat invitation for the opening ceremony, maka attend la jugak. Kat sini kan biasanya apa2 jer event or activity suker sgt buat malam tau after Maghrib prayer. Tau-tau jer la bila dah balik rumah, amat la malas skali nak kluar. Tapi kalau dah wajib terpaksa la datang jgk.

My students keep coming last week sbb pujuk I attend drama ni. Tak kuasa tau nak melayan sbb dah x paham sbb in Arabic, pas tu buat malam2 buta plak kan. Usually, for the opening ceremony of the event diaorg ni mulakan dgn bacaan Quran dan diikuti dgn tarian dan nyanyi traditional diaorg. Yang ni 'wajib' ada.

Penari2 mestilah students2 lelaki (pompuan x bleh okey: HARAM). Diaorg ni akan pakai "Khanja" kat pinggang. Khanja tu senjata traditional Oman macam pisau. Then akan pegang tongkat dgn pedang. Pas tu gelek2, goyang2 sesambil baling2 benda alah tu laa. Macam tu laa lebih kurangnya. Muzik traditional Oman ni best tau, bila dengar jer sure terasa nak gelek2 sama tau

Tu siap dengan gendang2 lagi tu. Bila dah pakai Khanja kat pinggang, terus Dishdasha terangkat, seksi tu

Students2 ni bila dah menari2, lecturers kat sebelah pun dah x peduli dah. Syok kemain !!

Marah tau Khanja tu. Nak bawak balik Msia pun takut, nanti tak pasal2 ader yg kena tahan kat airport

Tongkat tu pun benda yg wajib dibawak utk ke majlis rasmi kat sini. But only for a man. Like my dad last time, beli byk2 kat sini bg souvenir kat Msia. Berebut orang2 kat masjid tu. Amboi2 pakcik, ingat murah ker tongkat tu. Berebut2 macam goreng pisang panas plak!! Hehehhehe

Then bila abis jer menari2, ada la plak 2..4 orang akan bawak "halwa" ni . Ni pun kiranya makanan traditional diaorg jgk. Mahal tau, satu dulang besar tu nak nyer 40-50 rial. Rasa 'halwa' ni manis sangat then rasa rempah2

Bawak jer dulang ni then cubit lah cikit2. Senang kan diaorg ni, main pakai cubit2 pakai tangan jer. Pas tu siap bawak tisu kotak lagi. Hhhahahah.. lawak laaa

Cubit2, jilat2, lap2 kat tisu. Senang kan x yah nak beli sudu, garpu, pinggan, mangkuk. Sempoi betui pak2 Oman

Sehingga menjilat jari diaorang ni makan tau. Memang suker bebonar diaorang ni makan "halwa"

Lepas makan2 halwa ni, round ke-2 diaorang ni bawak cawan kopi yang x de gula. Cawan tu ader 2 jer pas tu share2 la. Ohhh tidak, I akan tunggu diaorg bagi air mineral or jus. Then layan laa drama kanak2 unta ni till 11pm. Tengok jer laa, buat2 paham. Kan Arabic, ader laa words yg tahu skit2 kan. Best jugak buat paham2 sdiri ni. Hehehhe

Students2 ni kalau bab2 activity cam ni kemain aktif lagi, cuba bab2 blajar? Nak terkluar anak tekak lecturer mengajar tau. Itu bukannya complain tau, itu adalah dugaan kan?

Kena optimistic di musim2 Summer ni. Dah laa weather macam dlm oven, kalau x sabar ader yang krusi meja melayang nanti kang! Tul tak?

Qurban Meat..

Kan Raya kat sini hari Selasa.. so hari selasa laa menyambut raya. Hari tu jer, kalut duk masak sbb nak kasi makanan kat orang and around 11 am ader invitation jiran sebelah. Orang Msia, my colleague jgk, wife dia masak nasi impit and kuah kacang. Mmm.. yummy, at least ada laa suasana di hari raya kan?

Then my students I called nak kasi daging Qurban.. haaa.. ambik kau!!! Sebelah peha kambing dia bagi. Ya Allah.. amat laa terkejut I okey. Tak penah ku makan atau dapat peha kambing before this tau!! Kat sini Qurban kambing or unta. Most of the people slaughtered goat and to those are rich, they will slaughter UNTA. Hehhhehhe.. No daging tu, I divided into 3 laa bahagikan sama rata dgn my other friends. Susah tu nak potong.. kerasss sangat tulang tu, nasib laa my friend ader pisau yang BAPAK nyerr besouuu okey!!

Yang peliknya, kalau kat Msia, I never eat mutton.. x suka. Kalau makan sure migrain terus. Then kambing kat Msia bau2.. tul tak? Tapi kan.. daging kambing kat sini x bau ... macam daging lembu. Serious.. so makan laa i daging kambing kat sini dgn berimaginekan daging lembu laa slalu. Daging kambing lagi bagus dr daging lembu okey.. (Tul kan???)

Even kat restaurant2 kat sini pun susah sebenarnya nak carik daging lembu tapi kalau mutton.. merata2 ader. Datang laa sini kalau tak percaya!!

Then in the afternoon, I went to my dad's friends house. He is Omani and he invited my friends and me to have traditional lunch with his family. The journey to his mum's house was nearly 2 hours but I considered worth it coz we ate very delicious food there. Tahu tak, hidangan hari raya diaorang adalah Nasi "Qubuli" and daging Qurban. Nasi tu macam nasi minyak tp x berminyak.. sedap sangat!! Kalau makan nasi jerr pun dah cetap okey. Then dgn daging rebus jer!! I repeat.. only daging rebus!! Daging tu rebus dgn halia, bawang putih and garam jer. Siap tanya resipi dgn tuan rumah lagi. Tapi sedap laa sangat. Pelik kan?? Then dgn salad ( raw veggies) . Thats all!!

Since I was here I started to love this food especially Omani Qubuli ni. Nanti nak blajar laa resipi nak buat nasi ni. Then jemput you all makan2 kan? Hehheheh... Tapi x brani laa nak makan nasi ni banyak2 nanti my weight scale berputar x nak stop kang. Scary laa weh!!

Imagine laa kita buat 3 menu ni jerr utk majlis2 cam ni ( nasi, daging rebus and salad) jerr. Guna resipi diaorg ni.. sure our guests akan ckp kita kedekut kan. Why not I buat ini menu utk my wedding?? Hahhaha... sure akak2.. pakcik2.. makcik2 balik ckp I kedekut kan? But then kalau fikir balik.. its good you know.. x de laa membazir and memang menu sihat. Yang paling I suka, nasi - guna beras basmati and kurang minyak ( i like it ). Pasal wedding menu tu actually, my colleague yang bg suggestion suruh I buat cam tu. Amboi korang bg suggestion baik punya... nanti korang jgk yg dtg majlis I then kutuk2.. Tak suka.

Tak pe laa.. nanti bila tiba masanya you all tahu laa apa menunya. X yah nak pikir2 lagi.. Ntah bila majlisnya pun x tahu... ( elloooo.. ni dah terkluar topic ni... )

At nite again, my friend called nak kasi daging lagi. Dia kasi tulang2 tu.. again divided into 3. Adil kan?? The late at nite.. ader lagi students bagi seketul besar daging BBQ. Ya Allah.. rezeki tul hari ni..x putus2 dapat daging kambing. Alhamdulillah...

A day after, ader tetamu dtg kat umah satu family.. nasib laa kan. I masak sup tulang yg dapat tu, if not x tahu laa bila I nak abiskan tulang2 tu. Thank God!! Abis jgk half of the meat yg kat dlm fridge tu. Best tau.. yg bahagian2 tulang tu dibuat sup. Sup kambing you, kat Msia sure mahal tu kat mamak2 kan.

How lucky I am right? Tapi x de laa makan bebonar...

Eid Eve

Guess what I did just now.. I baked and I cooked. Memang laaa .. mengalahkan orang sambut raya kat Msia kan? Tu laaa... kat sini lagi meriah on Eid Eve ( for me: alone?) Yeah right!!... Even my mum in Msia also x not prepare any special food for this eid. If Im in Msia right now for sure I will do sometime for them.. pity them :(( Actually, I baked these to give some to my Omani friend here... thats the reason Im so into cooking and baking today!

Im done with Oreo Cake ( 2 Oreo Cakes)... Mmmmm yummy.. yummy.. I love oreo cake. Last time I made when I was back in Msia last summer. Told you previously... I baked several times.. I posted the recipe. Did u try it? Mmmm... last time was oreo cupcakes. The recipe is still the same folks!!! This time I didnt use cake mixer ( x have it here) and I used ONLY FORK okey to replace the mixer. Terrror tak I? Hhehehe.. Jadi okey.. sangat laa jadi. Rasanya sama.. People, dont give reason not to try this recipe coz its easy and you also can do it by yourself. Trust me okey...

Lets look at what I have it here..

1 1/2 cups of butter + 3/4 cups vege oil + 1/2 cups sugar + 3/4 small t/spoon of salt

2 cups of flour + 1/2 small t/spoon of baking powder

Lastly.. add Oreo biscuits as many as u want. I put a whole box.. so yummy and yummy.

Ready to bake

Halazzzz.... there you go.. crunchy on the top.

Something abt me.. I would say its kinda weird.. when I bake or cook.. I will feel full after Im done and I hardly eat what I cook. My hunger is gone while Im cooking and baking.. but still never ever loss any kilos.. :((

I baked meat macaroni and prawn macaroni. Was planning to make chicken macaroni but I couldn't find minced chicken.. so change the recipe to meat macaroni. Come closer people... wanna show u my Baked Macaroni:

Diced Onion + Minced meat

Kurma spices + Curry spices

Diced Capsicum

Add Macaroni..

Taraa... ready to bake.. pour with egg ( need many eggs.. I used 6 eggs for this big container) and a little bit of flour.. Dont forget after u fried the macaroni wait till it cold and then mix that with eggs.

See, how many container I got.. 6 .. its 6 people!!! 3 meat macaroni and 2 prawn macaroni

EiD MuBaRaK

Guess what, I will celebrating Eid Adha on Tuesday here unlike in Malaysia and other part of the world which is on Monday (tomorrow). tsk..tsk..tsk..

Called home and talked to my mum, dad and my lil sis just now. I spent almost 3 hours chatting with them. It started with laughing and ended nearly to shed my tears. Yeah.. this Eid Adha, will be the most quite Eid for them. There will be three of them celebrating Eid tomorrow at home. I feel so sad.. really I do.

Was planning to bake and cook some food but still undecided. In my mind got so many things that I wanna make for this Eid here unfortunately something turned me down.

Well, wishing all of you Eid Mubarak. May this holy days bring us joy and blessing to you and me. Enjoy the holiday too :)) I got my holiday till this Friday and will be back to work on Saturday.

Looking forward to experience the new things during this Eid Adha here.. new food, new culture with people around. Insyaallah..

National Day Celebration

National Day celebration held at the college last week in the evening. It went pretty well with the attendance of some VIPs including the Wali (person who is in charge of Sur) , Ministry people, Police, etc. That was the first time for me to attend the event organized by the college. Previously, there were some events but I never attend. Ntah laa ... apa ker jadah this time I wanted to go.. may be coz of my students keep coming to my room and persuade me to come I guess ;))

The event started at 7.30pm with the arrival of VIPs guests. Followed by recite of Holy Quran. Then the event continued with the first performance from disable people sang a song in Arabic. It was a sad song with emotional feeling...

Those were kids singing and dancing with their traditional song. Look at them.. They were wearing their traditional clothes too.. ( I guess the college invited them to performance, definitely they are not my students )

Those were outsiders too. They were singing and dancing their traditional song. Nice song ... They make me moved my body too..

That was like a musical drama... look at the "dukun" who was wearing the mask. So scary.. I guess there was the story behind this.. Never had a chance to ask my students..

Some of my students performed this. They were dancing with the sword. It looks real..Some of them are so talented. So proud of them ;))

National Day

Today is 38th National Day of Oman... Mabrook!!! ... Tapi x cuti lagi laa. Most probably will be holiday next week.

* I need more than 24 hours a day.. ( exhausted+mood swing+bz)

Invitation for National Day

I got an invitation from Malaysian's Embassador for National Day of Malaysia. I know.. I know.. it supposed to be on 31 August but they postponed it till 8 November. I would love to attend unfortunately, its not during the weekend. Its going to be this Saturday nite and it is in Muscat. Its coz of long journey ( 2 hours fr Sur) and its going to be long drive back home. And the next morning I have class to lecture.

How i wish its in the weekend... Im sorry Dato', Insyaallah next time for the next event ;))
