On wednesday, one of my colleague invited my friend and I to go to the wedding. One of her student's brother got married. Actually, Im been waiting for this occasion coz wanna experience the culture here.
Wedding started at 8.30pm and we arrived there half an hour early. The nikah session was last week and now is the occasion for the ladies ( her sis in law session). The wedding is really diff fr us.
Sessi pompuan dgn sessi laki adalah berbeza. Sessi pompuan kat sini akan dihadiri oleh kaum2 ibu dan kaum2 hawa and of course no man at all except your family. Abang student ni kawin dgn sepupu dia.. mmmm.. Adakah anda merasa pelik dan luarbiasa? Mmmm... not here!! Here, they will always find the relatives that are close and near to them.. as close as possible. Kawin dgn sepupu, kawin dgn dua pupu and sedara mara diaorg laa. According to my students, it will cost less if the marry their relatives and usually it will cost RO1000 and more. RM 10, 000 tu.. itu adalah yg paling murah okey.. it can goes till Ro7000. That money will be given to the lady before the married and that money will be used for the clothes and jeweleries. Dashyat kan? Lum lagi hantaran.. lum lagi barang..lum lagi duit2 utk kenduri. Kesimpulannya, lelaki yg nak kawin kat sini kena laa ader duit byk and nak yg murah kawin dgn sedara mara okey!! Hehhehe
Look at this, the decoration of the house... amat laa meriah skali.. cam ari hari raya kan? If we found the house lip lap lip lap..means that the house is going to have the wedding.

Bila dah sampai tu..duduk2 laa... each minutes there will be guest coming.. their relatives and friends.. and of course they were ladies. Masing2 duk bersiap2 dgn pakai barang2 kemas laa.. mak oii.. ni nak citer. Baju berkelip2 mengalahkan lampu kat atas pokok masa krismas u.. serious. We wanted to go inside the room where the bridge is there but we were not allow to see her till tmrw. Is that weird??

Their close relatives went out of the gate while holding a set of Henna (inai) for the bride. One of the lady put on her head and carry that and diaorg ramai2 menyanyi dan menyalak.. siut jerr kan?? Serious menyalak.. cam tarzan tu.. Kalau kat Msia dor sure org dah ckp2 "Apa jenis pompuan ni?? " Hehhehe... While they were singing, the kids and playing with the fire crackers. Terasa laa mcm mlm ari raya.. kanak2 main bunga apa. After 10-15 min nyanyi, menyalak and main buang api, slowly the walk towards to the house and brought the things (henna) inside the house. The purpose? I dont know.. no opportunity to ask the student.

Well, kat luar wanita2 yg berjubah itam tu mula dah menyalak laa.. they were singing while clapping their hands. I was so excited to see them.. diaorg buat satu bulatan and kat tengah2 tu utk kaum keluarga mereka menari nanti. Lama gak duk tunggu diaorg menyanyi and they are bringing the bridge outside of the house. Yang peliknya, the bride will be cover their face and even their feet. Means that org x leh tgk laa.. Tapi apa kerr jadah laa plak bwk pengantin tu kluar umah kalau x nak kasi org tgk kan? So laa pelik... pompuan tu duduk laa atas sofa and the family will be line up to give a kalung yg dibuat dgn duit. Kalung tu akan dipakaikan kat pengantin pompuan.. so byk laa kalung pompuan tu dpt!! Kaum keluarga yg lain pun dtg and kasi duit kat dia..

Aaaa... org yg duk menyanyi and bertepuk tangan tu yg buat satu bulatan tu...akan diberi duit 200 biases ( RM2) for each of the round. Means that..setiap kali diorg nyanyi akan ader org masuk and menari kat tengah2 bulatan tu and after they are tired, they will stop and will give the singers and clappers money.. Ader laa 8..9 rounds or more.. byk tu dpt duit!! Some of the relatives, main tabur jerr duit tu kat para penyanyi dan penepuk tgn.. Giler tul diaorg ni..Mewah..duit bertaburan... ( rasa cam nak gi kutip jer...hehehhe)

So apa lagi, kitaorg ni pun turut serta laa bertepuk2 tangan menunjukan support kan. Makk oii.. student my friend tu nari, terkejut wehh.. gelak... 360 darjah ni. Kalah Mas Idayu dangdut weh.. terpegun I tgk..tu lum lagi laki yg tgk. Kalau laki yg tgk sure ajak kawin terus!! Serious, student ni bila pakai shela (tudung hitam) tu x de laa lawa sgt tapi bila dah bukak tudung melawa2.. kalah lecturer u.. cantik betui!!
Lepas 1/2 hour the bride stay outside and the relatives brought her inside. Diikuti plak dgn pengantin lelaki. The same things, the relatives akan pakaikan kalung yg dibuat dgn duit tu and pakaikan laa.. This time, all the brothers will be out and will give many to all the singers and clappers.

Door gifts is henna.. sorang satu dpt henna. I dont like to wear henna. Here, most of my female students wear henna. Bukan kat kuku jerr... but then lukis2 kat tangan..cam pengantin laa plak.. semua cam tu. X nak laa i pakai2 henna cam tu.. cam dah kawin plak. I bleh tunggu laagi..nanti kawin bleh laa pakai kan...hehhhehe
I did not wait till finish coz my watch showed 11.30pm and I felt so tired. Need to go back.. Ingatkan ader makan2..rupanya x de.. sabor jerr laa. X cam kita kan.. So pulang laaah dgn sebungkus henna and satu botol mineral water. Lepas dah memekak, melalak and menari x de makanan pun.. hehehhe.. We end of buying shawarma and pizza. My friend nyerr keje laa ni.. rasa lapar..
Itu laaa dia Omani wedding.. more to come.. today one of my students invited me to go for his sister's wedding after the final exam. Cam menarik jerr kan. Will see..if got time for sure i would love to go there again!!
