Myths And Facts

Its nearly two years my life in Oman. Like I said earlier, I feel its more than that.. like 10 years. Happy, sad, lonely, sorrow, curious and lots of mix feeling. Well, two years such a long time and I discovered so many things here especially with the people surrounding me. Lets talk about the myths and the facts of Omani.

First

Myth:

• When we said Arabs, we always said they are rough and arrogance people.

Fact

• Omani are extremely friendly people. Trust me, when you told them u are from Msia. "MasyaAllah"... Melezia, zin..zin!!" Thats their respond.

Second

Myth:

• They are big, tall and fat.

Fact:

• Omani are tall and slim. Of course some are fat and big. But so far I discovered not many Omani are fat and big

Third

Myth:

• They are rich and lazy

Fact:

• Mmmmm... yeah, I would say yes and yes.. ( asif, asif.. again not all yeah.. generally)

Fourth

Myth:

• They eat big portion of meal.

Fact:

• Yeah, they do eat such a big portion. If eating Qabuli, Briyani; they can finish the whole portion of big plate. Puhhh... tertido akak dibuatnya. For sure terus jd ular sawa lepas makan. One plate of Qabuli/ Briyani can last 3/ 4 days for me :))

Fifth

Myth:

Men and women are so handsome and pretty. Masyaallah... for sure tgk 3..4 kali laaa.

Facts:

• Believe it of not, more handsome men in Oman compared to lady. Really, I asked several students and they agreed with me. Lucky u ladies!!

Sixth

Myth:

• They are selfish.

Fact:

• They are very helpful people. They try their best to help you out even they do not know you. Great people!!

All of above myths and facts can relate with my experience with my kanak2 unta at the college.

First Myths & Facts:

• What Miss, from Melezia? MasyaAllah.... Wow.. really? Melezia truly Asia ( siap dgn nada2 nyanyi lagi tu, sabor jer la)
  
• My uncle is studying in Malaysia Miss, he said Msia very nice!! I want to study there also Miss
• My sister and husband went to Msia last summer Miss for their honeymoon.

Second Myths & Facts:

• Many of my students, they are slim and tall. I mean of course taller than me. Thats for sure. Of course, some of them are big and fat. And some like "mak bapak org" (bleh?) Really coz they look pretty older than their age. May be coz of the weather.
  

Third Myths & Facts:

• They are rich ppl. Majority of the guys are using cars to the college. 4 Wheel drive, BMW, Camry and even Merc. are considered normal for them. ( Kesian cikgu kan? Pakai jer city.. tak pe pelajar2, cikgu redha dan bersyukur dgn apa yg ada skrg, sob..sob..sob)

Fourth Myths & Facts:

• Yeah, they eat so much. Their main meal is lunch and usually they will eat big portion of rich (Qabuli, Mandi, Briyani). Pompuan, laki sama jerr... tp pelik kan diaorg ni tak gemuk. Cuba I yg makan abis satu pinggan. For sure sah2 tak muat nak masuk pintu rumah. Seriously!! And for dinner, they eat very light food like bread and salad. Kalau kita kat Msia; roti canai, nasi lemak bungkus kecik, keow teow goreng. Wahhh... berminyak2 tu. Kononnya makan light, nampak kecik tp ambik kau punya laa fattening!!

Fifth Myths & Facts:

• In the class, I can count how many pretty ladies. I mean idung yg mancung, pipi yg gebu. Really. Tapi laki yg "waseem", MasyaAllah.... ramai tu. Dalam one class tu for sure laa ader at least sorang. Nasib laa cikgu dah berumur kan? Tgk2 jerr laa, cuci2 mata. Luckily like my lil brother. Tu laa kekadang tu terpukau cikgu tgk keindahan ciptaan Tuhan ni kan? Dgn idung yg mancung, kulit yg putih licin, mata yg bersinar. Tapi terpikir jgk, alangkah bagus kalau handsome + pandai. Mostly harapkan muka jerr korang ni, otak lemah skit. Tak pe... belajar.. belajar.. ( tetiba jer bab ni panjang, sedar2 diri skit Ms Nur!!)

Sixth Myths & Facts:

• They are very friendly peeple. Kalau dah nak menolong tu.. wah diaorg laa yg paling bagus especially during exam time. Suker sgt tolong menolong kwn2 diaorg, alaaa bagi kawan2 tiru jawapan. Macam laa dia tu bagus sgt nak bg org tiru!! Tak paham laaa... But really, if you need help, Omani people are the best people. Students will keep coming to you, offering their hands. Such a lovely people you are!!
  

Actually, those are only some of the myths and facts that I can think of right now. Will be posting more later. Udah lupa laa byk sangat... like these ppl said, suwey-suwey k. Skit2 laa..
